My designs are to be displayed on a standard flag format (1:2) which equal horizontal bands (top to bottom) of azure blue (symbolises the sky), white (symbolises peace between the people that live here) and light green (symbolizing the land). These colours are familiar to New Zealanders and have been used by many of our sports teams (e.g sky blue) to date. These designs have been inspired partly by the Indian and Argentinian national flags (white, green and sky blue colours). The southern cross (exactly the same colour and position as current flag - is a nod to our present flag and reflects our unique heritage. The stars are dark blue with a red and white outline placed in the middle of the white third of one flag and top left where the current Union Jack on the present flag is. It is to be slightly offset and sized exactly the same as the current flag.
