My flag is a symbol of unity. To call oneself a New Zealander is to say you have come from somewhere to start something new. Something special. It doesn't matter if you are descended from those on the 8 canoes, if your ancestors came here in the 1800s or you came in 2015. We have all come together to escape a tougher life for something better. I have used the colours green and blue to symbolise the environment which I believe is important to all New Zealanders. We love to make the most of the beautiful environment we live in. The koru is a symbol of the importance of Maori heritage but then it is winding the green and blue into one uniting us. I have kept the symbol of the commonwealth demonstrating it's importance to us as well.
