This flag represents our past and future together. The upper left side is a tribute to our past with the colours of our current flag, red, white & blue. The southern cross is carried from our current flag to remind us of our past and place in the world. The blue also reflects us as a nation surrounded by the ocean. The bottom right represents the future with the koru suggesting new beginnings and reflects our Maori culture, it is placed on a green background showing us as a clean green nation. These two halves show us as as a multicultural nation with a history to be proud of and a future together. Joining both these sides is the silver fern recognised as New Zealand's symbol and an image displayed in front of the world proudly showing our successes. The fern also gives a suggestion of Aotearoa the land of the long white cloud.
Ideas and elements have come from the current NZ flag, Kyle Lockwood and Barry McDonald
