THE KORU HAKI
This is a simple design which says ‘New Zealand’.
The two navy blue bars represent the two oceans which flank New Zealand, the Pacific and the Tasman.
The white bar represents peace.
The traditional red Southern Cross with white outline against the navy blue background as with the current flag.
The lone red star of the Southern Cross in the white bar represents New Zealand’s unique individuality and freedom.
And finally, New Zealand’s traditional national emblem, the Fern, in black on the white background. Also New Zealand’s traditional sporting colours.
