It would be a tragedy for me if we disowned our association with Mother England in favour of a quaint ethnicky design which may not stand the test of time. Far better to embrace our new connectedness with the world. My star-filled sky is an expanded version of the American "fortunate few" tucked away in pride of place. It proudly proclaims our association with that world leader however while harking back to Genesis 26:4 and God's promise to Abraham. I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven.. and in thy seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed. New Zealanders don't go to war.. we are always the peacemakers. Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God. Last but not least this flag is pageantlike.. a joyful celebration testifying to our equality under the sun and the fact that we don't take ourselves too seriously.
